The lead trust is a gift arrangement that can help you transfer wealth to the next generation in a tax-efficient manner.
Tax-Free IRA Rollover Has Been Extended
Eligible IRA owners can direct the custodians of their accounts to send checks up to $100,000 to charity. Although no income tax charitable deduction is available, the distribution is not subject to tax, as it would be if the IRA owner made a withdrawal and then gave the funds to charity. Qualified charitable distributions also satisfy required minimum distributions, providing tax savings. Read more on the IRA Charitable Rollover.
Most Advantageous Assets
People often are surprised to learn that there are different tax results from giving different types of property. Gifts of highly appreciated securities, for example, may be particularly favorable. If stocks have been owned more than one year, then donors can deduct not just their original cost, but also any paper profit present in the gift. Best of all, there are no capital gains taxes or net investment income taxes due when you give securities. Find out other assets to give that are advantageous.
Retain Lifetime Payments from Your Gift
Many generous donors would like to do more to provide for our future, but feel they can’t afford to make larger gifts at this time. There are several options, however, that allow friends to make gifts today, retain payments for life and have the satisfaction of knowing that their gifts will provide a lasting benefit to our programs. These “life-income” gifts often permit donors to make larger gifts than they thought possible. Click here to find out how such gifts can be arranged.
